you may have a fancy desktop system while running both debian and ubuntu.
i would like to draw your attention to the importance of the fact that ubuntu is a good distro if u want linux for only a short period of time!!!! yes , short period of time…
Ubuntu is not Stable and would go slow while passing time or after upgrading.
i’ve seen not many Desktop systems which have ubuntu for more than 6 months! it means that u should re-install the new release which outs every 6 month .
on the contrary , u may enjoy a more powerfull and stable Desktop system using Debian.

Unless you are not running a server, and want a fancy desktop system that just works.. I suppose you could run Ubuntu.

If its a server you want.. Debian! Debian! Debian!
