Ubuntu is not Stable and would go slow while passing time or after upgrading. i've seen not many Desktop systems which have ubuntu for more than 6 months! it means that u should re-install the new release which outs every 6 month . on the contrary , u may enjoy a more powerfull and stable Desktop system using Debian. you may have a fancy desktop system while running both debian and ubuntu.
